Michael Scelzi
Michael Scelzi is majority shareholder of Net Metering Inc a hardware, software and consulting business specializing in real time energy analysis for Commercial, Industrial and Government owned facilities. Mr. Scelzi has drafted patents for this business and currently is Chairmen of the Board.
Mr. Scelzi previously was founder and President of Energen Technologies Inc and ETI Construction collectively ETI Group. Mr. Scelzi grew this business to $16,500,000.00 in revenue. The business was started in 1998 and sold to Johnson Controls Inc in 2008. Mr. Scelzi has been described by his previous employers and customers as having a “tenacity of purpose” this drive is reflected in his accomplishments personally and professionally.
Mr. Scelzi's started his career with General Electric Company in the Field Engineering Division utilizing his shipboard skills and engineering background from undergraduate and GE’s 6 month training course. Mr. Scelzi excelled in his position with GE and was offered multiple promotions, however at this juncture Mr. Scelzi opted to join the Merchant Marine and serve his country during the Persian Gulf War. Upon completion of the Merchant Marine assignment Mr. Scelzi moved to Richmond, Va and began work with Carrier Corporation as a Service Sales Engineer. Mr. Scelzi excelled in service sales growing revenue’s yearly and providing special projects – where Carrier’s hurdle rate was a limiting factor Mr. Scelzi subcontracted the work and delivered risk-less profit. Mr. Scelzi seeing opportunity then decided to return to College for a Masters of Business Administration Degree and utilize his business contacts and knowledge to start ETI Group. Mr. Scelzi remained the President and Sole Owner of ETI Group, the business delivered consecutive top line and profit growth by offering services and projects in a palatable format to business owners and managers.
Mr. Scelzi has a passion for the engineering field and exceptional interpersonal skills. Leveraging his business acumen and engineering back-round Mr. Scelzi can delivers exceptional results.
Mr. Scelzi resides in Glen Allen, Virginia with his wife of 17 years and two children.
Tommy Russo
Tommy Russo is Chief Technology Office for Akridge Properties in Washington DC. Tommy is responsible for all aspects of technological and informational systems for the Akridge organization and its affiliates. He is charged with research, development and implementation of new and innovative information systems and to advance Akridge's position among its competitors in providing cutting-edge technology to its Clients.
Mr. Russo's continued education and practical experience in information systems, coupled with his broad professional experience in residential and commercial construction, enables him to provide Akridge industry-leading technological services.
Chris Pyke
Dr. Pyke is the Vice President of Research for the US Green Building Council. He directs a diverse research portfolio that includes the development of advanced green building rating systems, the assessment of building performance, and the study of market trends and dynamics. Dr. Pyke currently serves in a number of advisory roles, including the Vice-Chair of the Chesapeake Bay Program's Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee. He is also a Fellow with the Virginia Institute of Marine Science Center for Coastal Resources Management. Prior to joining USGBC, Dr. Pyke served as a research scientist with the US EPA's Office of Research and Development and a postdoctoral research fellow in residence at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis. Dr. Pyke received a B.S. from the College of William and Mary and a M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Matthew E. Ross
Matthew E. Ross concentrates his practice in the area of energy law and has extensive experience in renewable energy from both a transactional and regulatory perspective. Matthew advises project developers, tax equity investors, private equity funds and contractors on developing and financing renewable energy projects. He also focuses on working with energy services companies ("ESCOs") and large end users of energy on energy efficiency solutions. In that regard, Matthew actively works with both ESCOs and commercial real estate developers, investors and managers to achieve energy cost savings through effective energy efficiency management strategies such as utilizing on-site generation and cogeneration, rooftop solar and wind technology, and high efficiency lighting and/or HVAC systems.
Additionally, Matthew has earned LEED professional accreditation, the leading professional designation for the green building, construction and development industry, further enhancing his ability to advise clients on achieving energy efficient business practices.
Marc Petock
Marc Petock heads marketing, brand management, public relations and communications for Tridium. Prior to joining Tridium, Marcserved as Vice President at Patrick Marketing Group where he developed marketing and communication initiatives for a variety of global technology companies. Preceding his time at Patrick Marketing Group, Marc held the position of Vice President at Connected Brands where he was responsible for the company's Technology and Telecommunications Practice. Marc serves as a business advisory board member to M2M Magazine and has been recognized by the Realcomm organization as one of the top 35 People to Watch in 2008, 2009and 2010. He also serves as a member of the Realcomm Technology Advisory Council. Earlier this year he was recognized with Realcomm's Digie Impact Award. This lifetime achievement award recognizes those individuals who stand out as pioneers and leaders and aren't afraid to go against the grain and try new ideas, technologies and solutions.
George Barnes
As a Director at EnergyConnect, George Barnes creates, develops, and deploys a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy throughout the Mid-Atlantic. The dual focus of this strategy is to introduce Demand Response to the region and launch the EnergyConnect suite of products. George has recently secured contracts with the Department of Defense, a major United States Airport, and the Governor of Virginia's Energy Office.
In 2005 George founded Innovative Energy Consulting LLC. Innovative Energy Consulting provided energy expertise to both trading and software companies. This company was instrumental in helping both market segments realize revenue gains from supply side products and strategically position software solutions.
With over 17 years of experience trading energy commodities, George has applied his comprehensive knowledge of energy products to create, execute and refine trading strategies and applications for multiple Fortune 500 trading organizations. Throughout his career George has fostered innovation by bringing together the essential players to solve critical business challenges.
Dr. Branko Terzic
Dr. Branko Terzic is currently Regulatory Policy Leader in Energy & Resources for Deloitte (Washington, DC) and serves as Chairman of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Ad Hoc Group of Experts on Cleaner Electricity Production from Coal and other Fossil Fuels (Geneva, Switzerland).
From 1999-2002 he also served as Regional Managing Partner for the Resources, Energy & Infrastructure Practice Group of Deloitte & Touche Central Europe (Prague, Czech Republic). A Fellow (“FRSA”) of The Royal Society Arts, he currently serves on the New America Foundation Energy Advisory council, and the executive councils of the Bordeaux Energy Colloquium and Energy Efficiency Forum where he was elected to The Hall of Fame in 2009.
He served as Commissioner on the State of Wisconsin Public Service Commission (1981-1986) during which time he served as Chairman of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners’ (NARUC) Committee on Engineering, Valuation and Depreciation and the Committee on Finance and Technology.. In 1990 he was appointed and confirmed to the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) where he chaired the FERC Task Force on Interstate Gas Pipeline Competition and later the FERC Task Force on Incentive Rates.
Before joining Deloitte Terzic was Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Yankee Energy System, Inc., managing director in Arthur Andersen LLP, Group Vice-President of AUS Consultants, Partner in Terzic & Mayer, and Vice President of Associated Utility Services Inc. Terzic began his career as a valuation engineer at The American Appraisal Company and Wisconsin Electric Power Company and later served as vice president in valuation, depreciation and rate design for Associated Utility Services.
Dr. Terzic is a founder of the Society of Depreciation Professionals and lectured annually at the Tax Institute of America Workshop on Public Utility Valuation for Ad Valorem at the Wichita State University from 1984-1993. He is a lecturer on electricity rates for the Edison Electric Institute and is a faculty member of the Washington Campus consortium of university MBA programs.
His articles and commentary have appeared regularly in Public Utilities Fortnightly, Energy Metro Desk, Power Executive, Deregulation Watch, Natural Gas, Oil & gas Financial Journal, The Ekonomist and other publications. Dr. Terzic’s bi-weekly column Terzic on Strategy appeared in New Power Executive from 1999-2008. His monthly column Commentary began in European Energy Review magazine in 2007. Terzic contributed a chapter on energy to the book THE WORLD CRISIS: THE WAY FORWARD AFTER IRAQ (Constable, London 2008), edited by Robert Harvey.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E.) degree and was awarded a Doctor of Sciences in Engineering (Sc.D.) “honoris causa” by the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin.
Tony Maul
Tony Maul is the CEO and President of Federated Power a provider of incentive and building data analytic solutions. Prior to Federated Power, Tony was the US Regional Green House Gas Initiative Leader as well as the Clean Tech Market Leader for Ernst & Young in the mid-Atlantic. Tony advised leading US utility clients on smart grid implementations and led Ernst & Young’s national effort on carbon cap and trade with clients in the US and Europe.
Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Tony served as the VP of Marketing of Experian-Scorex, which is an international provider of consumer credit scoring, analytics and software. Experian-Scorex served the largest financial institutions in understanding consumer behavior and developing models and programs that delivered personalized products and services. Prior to Experian-Scorex, Tony was an investment banker with CIBC World Markets and focused broadly on technology products and software.
Tony earned his BS from George Mason University. He is currently the co- chair of NVTC’s Green Technology Task Force, Greater Washington Board of Trades Going Green Committee and an advisory board member of Clean Technologies and Sustainable Industries Organization. Tony was recently named to the Virginia Joint Commission on Technology and Science’ 2010 Energy Advisory Committee.
Mark S. Blanke
Marc S. Blanke is President and Managing Principal of OwlPoint, LLC. In his 23+ years of IT, consulting and executive experience, Mark has long been leading efforts to drive efficiency within organizations. Since the launch of OwlPoint in 2008, Mark has been promoting Green IT and the significant cost and efficiency benefits it can have for organizations. Mark has been championing the use of IT Service Management best practices to achieve sustainability goals and drive significant reductions in operational costs such as real estate, electricity, paper, and other consumables.
Mark holds a Master of Science degree in Telecommunication Management from Stevens Institute of Technology as well as a Bachelors of Science in Computer and Information Sciences from Temple University.
Tom Lohner
Mr. Tom Lohner is a Vice President with Teng & Associates, Inc., an ENR Top 50 Engineering, Architecture and Construction company. Tom has 28 years of experience in building systems engineering, energy management and building automation. Mr. Lohner is a registered professional engineer in 10 states and received a Masters Degree in Building Energy Engineering from the University of Colorado. Tom is the former Chairman for the CABA Integrated and Intelligent Building Council (IIBC). He is also an ASHRAE member, CABA Zero Energy Alliance and High Performance Building Council Representative. Currently, Tom is the Branch Manager for Teng's Richmond, Virginia office and supervises energy and enterprise system integration teams in 4 other Teng branch offices.
